As one of Guam’s newest production companies, we’re asked a lot of questions about who we are…here are some answers to help you understand more about the creators of Pacific HG:
  1. What does MIG stand for?
    MIG means Made In Guam.

  2. Who is MIG Productions, LLP?
Founded in August 2007, MIG Productions LLP is a partnership between:

Marissa Borja – A 1998 graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Guam and 2002 graduate of Boston University’s College of Communication, Marissa returned to Guam in the fall of 2002 where she immediately began work as a journalist/photographer for the Marianas Variety. Three months later she was hired by the KUAM News team and has worked in broadcast journalism since then. Her experience with news coverage ranges from daily beat assignments to live remotes, political forums, community events and anchoring. In 2008, she received an Edward R. Murrow Award as part of her team coverage for the series Survivors: In Their Own Words; a documentary recounting the Japanese occupation of Guam during World War 2.

Now married and a full-time mother of three, while Marissa has placed her career with KUAM on hold…she is determined to continue building upon the experience and inspiration she has obtained over the years in the field of television. As a result, Marissa teamed up with John Damian to form MIG Productions, LLP. Host, writer, and producer for their current program Pacific Home and Garden – she enjoys the challenge that this new opportunity brings at this point in her life – while still balancing out the things that mean most to her: God, family and her career.

    John Damian
    – Entered the video field in 1988 as a news Videographer for Guam Cable TV. After 4 years, John branched off into commercial production where he became production supervisor until 1998. Upon the closure of Guam Cable TV, John joined the KUAM News team where he shot spot news, Technical Directed various television programs and events, shot commercials and worked with graphics for the news cast. In 2005 John went part-time with KUAM to explore his horizons and worked at Shift Guam Inc. full-time shooting Japanese weddings. There he was able to broaden his video skills and further his knowledge with computer editing.

In August 2007 John left Shift Guam Inc. to team up with Marissa. The two set out to combine their experience in hopes of launching a television show for Guam. By October 28, 2007 they achieved their goal with the premiere of Pacific Home and Garden.

Being a partner of MIG Productions, LLP allows John to focus his time and talent into Pacific HG.

  3. What is the mission of MIG Productions, LLP?
Our goal is to bring entertaining, informative, family-friendly content to the people of Guam. With the need for more local programming, we strive to fill this niche by promoting positive stories about the lives and industries of our island.

  4. What projects are you involved in?
We are the producers of Guam’s newest television program, Pacific HG (Home and Garden). Our vision for the show is to localize the type of information offered on national home improvement tv shows by featuring what is available and suitable for Guam. Our 30-minute monthly program includes everything from real estate tours and design tips to gardening advice and special features of homes/gardens.

  5. How did you come up with the idea for the show?
From the construction boom to an overall interest in home and garden improvement projects – we recognized that Guam needed a resource for information on these industries. After weeks of contemplating the approach that would be taken in order to bring this content to the masses, the concept of Pacific HG was born. Without a demo or any tangible product to present, we took our idea to Community First Guam Federal Credit Union in 2007 and they immediately expressed their support for the show. Now, after successfully inspiring hundreds of Guam's homeowners…Pacific HG is in its second season!

  6. Any room for other shows?
We have lots of ideas for more shows and look forward to the challenge of being able to bring the content to life. Stay tuned…

  7. What makes you different from other production companies?
We are a team of two. Marissa is Host, Writer, Producer and Sales/Marketing – with John as Videographer, Editor, Producer, Sales/Marketing and Graphics.

  8. Where are you located?
We work from our homes. We enjoy the privilege of doing what we love and being with our families at the same time.
